The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is investigating what it’s calling a targeted homicide after a man was found deceased on a property in Errington.

In a release, police say Oceanside RCMP were called to a report of a deceased man on April 10, just after 4:30 p.m.

The death of the man was deemed suspicious and criminality is believed to be a factor.

While collecting evidence, police located a suspect, who is also deceased.

RCMP say both deaths were recent, and they were in different locations.

Residents CHEK News spoke to Thursday were surprised to hear about the deaths.

“No I hadn’t heard about that,” said Ken Neden who lives on Grafton Road. “It’s quite concerning that these things seem to be happening in more and more places. I guess nowhere is really immune to this kind of thing but it’s very disconcerting to hear that it’s close by.”

Police believe this is an isolated incident and there is no further risk to the public.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the VIIMCU information line at 250-380-6211.
