One man has been arrested, after an alleged break and enter at a smoke shop in the Songhees Nation near Esquimalt Friday.
On Friday West Shore RCMP say a witness reported hearing smashing and glass breaking taking place at the Modeste Smoke Shop , on the 1100-block of Admirals Road.
The witness also said they saw a suspect fleeing the scene.
RCMP, with the help of their K9 unit, arrived to find the store damaged and several items missing. After searching the area they came across a man matching the description just 30-minutes later.
“One of our officers noticed a male matching the suspect description walking along the E&N Rail Trail near Maple Bank Rd and Admirals Rd,” said Cst. Nancy Saggar of the West Shore RCMP in a statement.
“Police also recovered stolen items from the shop on the male at the time of his arrest.”
The man is now bound by conditions an will appear in court at a later date.
Officers are thanking the public, who quickly called the incident in.
