Family Day began with a little blast of winter weather for Greater Victoria, Nanaimo and other parts of Vancouver Island, with snow falling early this morning.
Flurries hadn’t been in the forecast until Monday night, but temperatures were cooler than expected overnight and turned the chance of precipitation into the snow, instead of rain.
❄️ With a temperature drop, our chance of precipitation early this AM turned into this… 😳 Second #FamilyDayWeekend in a row now with snow in #YYJ but thankfully not the #snow storm we had last year! Tweet us video/pics!@CHEK_News @CHEK_media

Temperatures are expected to plunge further Monday due, due to a cool air mass settling over the B.C. South Coast.
Some parts of Vancouver Island could dip down to -7 Celsius and daytime highs on Tuesday are forecast to be four to seven degrees below seasonal.
This is the second Family Day long weekend Vancouver Island has had snow, although the light dusting today is nothing compared to last year’s Family Day long weekend snowstorm.
And now snow :) kids are up early and ready to play in #yyj 🙏 ❄️ ❄️ ⛄️ pic.twitter.com/vZbErLVhro
