Residents of Metchosin and Langford are on high alert as West Shore RCMP investigate a string of thefts from vehicles and several cases of property damage in the area.

Police say eight of the reported incidents involved thefts from motor vehicles and four involved damage to personal property.

Several of the complaints describe a male suspect with a similar appearance, and one homeowner was able to capture a photo of the suspect via home surveillance at around 2:30 a.m. on Jan. 7

With 12 reported incidents since Jan. 1, police are now releasing a surveillance image of that suspect.

He is described as a male with light to medium skin color who was wearing a green coloured or camouflage jacket with a white logo on the upper left side, black pants and white runners.

He was also seen wearing a large bright green face cloth covering the bottom half of his face. West Shore RCMP are asking for the public’s help in identifying the man responsible for the thefts.

Police are urging citizens to take precautions and to report any suspicious activity immediately. Anyone who recognizes the suspect or has any information that could aid in the investigation is urged to contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264.
