A Sooke woman is a bit richer these days.
Joan Hughes recently purchased a Luxury Crossword scratch and win ticket from Western Foods located in the Evergreen Centre shopping mall in Sooke.
According to a BCLC press release, Hughes scratched the ticket with her daughter-in-law over coffee and cake and ended up winning $100,000.
“I didn’t believe it,” Hughes said in the release.
A handful of Island residents have won prizes including someone from Brentwood Bay, who won $2,060.20 on Lotto 6/49, according to BCLC’s website.
