Sooke RCMP have released this composite sketch of a an assault suspect from an incident Sep. 29.

Sooke RCMP is releasing a composite sketch of the suspect wanted in connection to an assault Sep. 29.

Police say at around 2 p.m., the victim was walking on Sunriver Way when she noticed an unknown male walking behind her.

After losing sight of the male, police say she later encountered him on a path by the Sooke River when the male spoke to her.

The victim reported a weapon was produced and she was sexually assaulted.

Sooke RCMP says the victim was able to escape by fighting back and the suspect may have been injured.

Police describe the suspect as a dark-tanned Caucasian or with an “ethnic background”, about 5’10” tall with an average build of 180 to 200 pounds.

He has dark, untidy hair that is short to medium length, a full dark beard and wore a dark hoodie without drawstrings, dark blue jeans and running shoes.

Sooke RCMP says it is releasing the composite sketch in hopes someone in the community is able to identify him to further their investigation.
