The cause of a fire that destroyed a concrete plant in Sooke Sunday night is being investigated by police.

A structure fire broke out around 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the South Island Concrete Products building in the 6200-block of Sooke Road, and the rough estimate of damage is pegged at $500,000.

Sooke RCMP is asking anyone who has information on the fire or took pictures or video of the blaze, particularly in the early stages, to contact the detachment as soon as possible.

Police say an RCMP fire investigator has been called in to assist.

No injuries were reported.

The damage included four forklifts, a Bobcat, a hydraulic press, conveyor belts, plastic forms and hydraulic fuel, which set off explosions heard by firefighters.
