This East Sooke Road home was recently sold to an Ontario buyer for $6.5 million.

A house just went off the market with the highest recorded sale this year in the Greater Victoria area.

The Oceanfront property on East Sooke Road sold for $6.5-million, the second-highest sale to date within Sooke.

The house sits on a 10-acre property and is 5,672 square feet, which also has a separate 882 square feet guest home, and a garage and workshop that measures 1,214 square feet.

It’s located on the Metchosin/Sooke border and looks out at the Strait of Juan de Fuca to the Olympic Mountains, with a large pebble beach.

“The sale of this extraordinary estate reflects enduring demand for luxury real estate in the Greater Victoria area,” Sotheby’s International Realty Canada co-listing agent Glynis MacLeod said in a statement.

“While on the market, this property received strong interest from Canadian and international buyers who appreciated it as a rare opportunity to secure a premier piece of West Coast real estate. It received offers from multiple clients within Sotheby’s International Realty’s global network and was ultimately purchased by a buyer from Ontario.”

So far in 2019, there have been five sales on the MLS that have exceeded $4 million in Greater Victoria, with the highest reported sale at $4.7 million for a property in Oak Bay.
