Snowfall warning issued for parts of Vancouver Island, up to 25 cm of snow expected

Accumulating snow is on the way for parts of Vancouver Island. Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Port Alberni, Lake Cowichan and inland Vancouver Island as well as Greater Victoria — Malahat Highway-Goldstream to Mill Bay. The weather agency says 15 to 25 cm is expected to fall in those regions, particularly at higher elevations, during a six hour period starting on Monday. "Rapidly accumulating snow will make travel difficult. Visibility may be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow," Environment Canada said in a statement. "Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow." Environment Canada says the snowfall will end by late Monday afternoon as the low moves to the east.
