Oak Bay police say the victim of a theft last Thursday was napping inside her care home when the intruder came inside.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. March 7 at a care facility on Bee Street.

Police say a woman entered through an unlocked front door and stole the complainant’s passport, cash and purse.

The victim woke up to find the suspect exiting her home, who then fled when she was confronted.

“Entering the residence of a vulnerable senior and stealing their property is disgusting,” Oak Bay Police Deputy Chief Ray Bernoties said in a statement.

“Someone will know who this suspect is and we strongly encourage them to call us or Crime Stoppers.”

The suspect is described as a Caucasian female, about 25-years-old, standing 5’6″ tall with dark hair and was wearing dark clothing.
