West Shore RCMP says alcohol was a factor in a single-vehicle crash Tuesday night in View Royal.

A watch commander with the RCMP Wednesday morning says a male was driving the black Ford Expedition, and there was a female passenger.

Police believe injuries are non-life threatening, but the female was taken to hospital by ambulance.

The incident is still under investigation.

The crash happened just after 10 p.m. in the 1100-block of Admirals Road when the vehicle left the road, went up on the sidewalk and flipped over a barrier near a bus stop.

The RCMP member says firefighters on the scene helped to get one of the passengers out, but the jaws of life were not used.

Drive BC reported Admirals Road was closed between Colville Road and Craigflower Road and reopened more than an hour after the crash occurred.
