Corn hit the shelves extra early this year at Silver Rill Corn in Central Saanich and people were eager to get their hands on the much loved sweet veggie.

This year, thanks to the nice weather, in March the corn was ready for picking and selling for one of the earliest harvest ever.

The family-owned business has been passed down through generations and lots of love, time and monitoring have been put into their crops to ensure the best of the best is being grown for all their loyal customers.

Silver Rill has 70-acres of land for corn crops, and pickers will handpick anywhere between 5,000 to 10,000 cobs every day.

Pickers have been out every morning since June 30 at 5 a.m. to beat the heat and ensure fresh crops are arriving daily at their local market right at 9 a.m. for customers to enjoy.

The farm has over 25 varieties of corn and about two or three kinds can be found at their market throughout the week and up to 6 p.m. on the weekends.

This year, the farm will be introducing 10 new varieties of corn, which you can get right from their local market at 7117 Central Saanich Road, which is open every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
