WATCH: It was another nail-biter, but the Victoria Shamrocks failed to keep their season alive in a 9-8 loss to the Maple Ridge Burrards in Game 5 of the WLA Final.
Things were looking up for the Shamrocks early, as Casey Jackson, who had gone goal-less in the series at the time, scored a natural hat-trick in the first period to put the ‘Rocks up 3-0 early.
However, the Burrards would push back behind their sniper Curtis Dickson, and find themselves tied 6-6 after two periods of play.
The Shamrocks would give up a costly 5-on-3 shorthanded goal to Maple Ridge, and after Jackson tied things shortly after, the Burrards would score two unanswered, capped off by a beauty from Dickson to take a two-goal lead with just over a minute remaining.
Jackson would score his fifth goal of the game with 40 seconds remaining, but the comeback would come up short as the Burrards would take the game by a single goal for the third time in the series. The Burrards will now travel out east to compete for the national championship, the Mann Cup.
