The Victoria Shamrocks took advantage of their home floor in the opener of their Western Lacrosse Association playoff series with the Nanaimo Timbermen.

Chris Boushy led the Shamrocks’ offence with three goals and two assists in an 11-4 game 1 victory at the Q-Centre in Colwood Tuesday night.

The Shamrocks, who are the top seed in the WLA playoffs, scored four in the first and second periods and added three more in the third.

Jesse King also notched a hat-trick for the Shamrocks, while Graeme Hossack scored twice and Marshal King, Derek Lloyd and Connor Robinson each added a goal.

The Timbermen got tallies from Gord Phillips, Nick Finlay, Ryan Sheridan and Jon Phillips.

Nanaimo will look to even the series at a win each Thursday when they play host to game 2, starting at 7:30 p.m. at Frank Crane Arena.
