A Vancouver Island senior knitted more than 100 scarves and donated them to a local organization that supports the less fortunate.

Beulah Cooper, 92, decided she wanted to give back when the pandemic began and decided to do so the best way she knew how — through knitting.

“My mom is an amazing woman. She has the biggest, kindest heart and soul I’ve ever seen in a person. She always finds ways to give back, no matter what’s going on in the world” says Barb Maja, referring to her 92-year-old mother.

In all, Cooper knitted 150 scarves that were recently delivered to the Mustard Seed Street Church, which has been supporting Victoria’s less fortunate since 1975.

“It’s incredible,” says Mustard Seed’s Brenda Brassette.

“Not many people can afford winter gear, and not many people have the means to have a good, cozy scarf around their necks, and it just shows the love from the community to the people that are in need.”
