Saanich pound officers rescued three ducklings from a storm drain Friday afternoon.

Just before 2 p.m., two officers from the pound section rescued the adorable trio that was separated from their family.

Earlier in the day, nine ducklings were with their mom when the pound officers were called. Six of animals had ended up behind Save-on-Foods on Blanshard Street. They were rescued and taken to Swan Lake.

Then three hours later, the three other ducklings were heard in a storm drain on Vernon Avenue near the grocery store and the pound officers went back to the area. T

Those three were rescued and have also been taken to Swan Lake to hopefully find their mother.

Saanich police said if the ducklings can’t find their mom or the mom doesn’t hear them, they will be taken to WildArc.
