Seaspan Ferries reaches agreement with union; strike action called off

Seaspan Ferries Corporation announced on Friday the company has reached an agreement with the union and says the strike action has been called off.

In a statement sent to media, the company says a tentative agreement has been reached, and it will be put to union membership for a ratification vote.

According to the company, service will resume over the weekend and is expected to be back to a full sailing schedule on Jan. 24.

Seaspan let customers know yesterday of the looming strike action, suggesting that there may be disruptions to service.

The union, Canadian Merchant Service Guild, posted a notice earlier today that stated there was a strike underway at Seaspan Ferries.

The notice was removed from their website as of 6 p.m. on Friday.
