Search continues for missing woman after van found abandoned at Qualicum Beach

Police are still searching for Carmel Gilmour whose van was found abandoned in Qualicum Beach earlier this week.

The 36-year-old woman was last seen on Nov. 15 in her van, which is a brown 2002 Chevrolet Venture with the B.C. licence plate EX976V. Police said the van was in the area of Little Mountain Road in Parksville on Nov. 14. It was then seen near the 3100-block of Highway 19A in Qualicum Beach on Nov. 15. It was recovered at this location by police on Tuesday.

RCMP are trying to clarify Gilmour’s movements, either in the van or on foot, while possibly hitchhiking. Investigators would like to speak to anyone Gilmour may have been with or spoken to between Nov. 14 and now.

Gilmour is described by police as Caucasian, 5’6,” with a medium build, long brown hair and hazel eyes.

Anyone with information that could help Oceanside RCMP find Gilmour is asked to call the detachment at 250-248-6111.
