Search continues for driver of BMW that damaged other vehicles in Cowichan Bay hit and run

The search continues for the driver of an older model BMW that RCMP say was involved in a hit and run crash in Cowichan Bay that damaged two other vehicles early Saturday morning.

Police say the suspect’s BMW was seen travelling at high speed northbound on Cowichan Bay Road while being followed by an accompanying vehicle around 1:45 a.m.

Witnesses report that the car came around a slow right turn in the road when the driver lost control and struck an Audi S5 and a Mazda CX5 on the 1700-block of Cowichan Bay Road.

The crash caused significant damage to both vehicles.

RCMP say both the suspect vehicle and the accompanying vehicle took off quickly after the crash, but they believe the BMW would have noticeable damage on the rear bumper area.

Parts of the suspect vehicle left at the scene indicate to police that it is a light grey or white BMW sedan with a rear spoiler, the vehicle year is between 1985-1993.

The RCMP is asking for the public’s help in locating the vehicle and identifying the driver, if you can help please call Cst. David Grey of the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522 or Crimestoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
