Students and staff at a school in Victoria may have been exposed to the novel coronavirus.
Oaklands Elementary — located on Belmont Avenue in Victoria — recently experienced a COVID-19 exposure, the Greater Victoria School District (SD61) announced Tuesday.
Potential exposure dates are May 10 and 11.
The district says notification letters have already been sent to the school community and that Island Health will reach out to anyone who may have been exposed.
An exposure is defined by Island Health as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.
Island Health says a child can continue to attend school if a parent or guardian does not receive a phone call or letter from public health.
As of Tuesday evening, Oaklands Elementary had not been added to Island Health’s exposure list.
