Two additional schools on Vancouver Island have experienced COVID-19 exposures.

Island Health has added École Victor-Brodeur in Esquimalt, and Pleasant Valley Elementary – located in Nanaimo – to its COVID-19 exposure list.

The reported exposure at École Victor-Brodeur occurred on April 12, 13 and 14.

The reported exposure at Pleasant Valley Elementary happened on April 13.

Island Health defines an exposure as a single person with a lab-confirmed COVID-19 infection who attended school during their infectious period.

The health authority says that if a parent or guardian sees a notification on its school exposure site, it does not necessarily mean their child has been exposed to COVID-19.

If a parent or guardian does not receive a phone call or letter from public health, a child can continue to attend school, according to Island Health.

As cases continue to surge across the province, some parents have opted to pull their kids from attending classes at facilities.
