The Saskatoon Hilltops beat the Westshore Rebels 17-10 at Starlight Stadium on Saturday to become the 2023 Canadian Bowl champions.
The two teams went into the final match undefeated this season, though the Hilltops had 22 Canadian Bowl championships under their belt — tied with the Okanagan Sun for the most national championships in the 140-year history of the Canadian Junior Football League. This would have been the Rebels’ first Canadian Bowl win.
Now, the Hilltops have secured first place with 23 Canadian Bowl championships.
Fans packed the stadium despite the rainy and cold weather.
“We’re so proud of our players, staff and everyone who was a part of this magical season,” the Rebels said on Facebook. “Thank you, to the fans, who supported us every step of the way.”
