Saanich Police are looking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect after an unprovoked assault took place Sunday night near Uptown Mall.

On Sunday at around 6 p.m. on Douglas Street, just north of Saanich Road beside Uptown Centre, police say a man was waiting for a northbound bus when he was randomly assaulted by another male.

Police say the suspect boarded a busy BC Transit bus before fleeing the scene. The victim received non-life threatening injuries and was later released from hospital.

“Investigators believe there were several other witnesses to the assault and are asking anyone who may have seen the attacker come forward,” said Saanich Police in a release.

Police are asking anyone with information about this incident to call them at 250-475-4321 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
