Saanich Police respond to serious collision involving cyclist, intersection at Grange Rd and Tulip Ave closed

Saanich Police and the Saanich Fire Department have responded to the scene of a collision late Thursday afternoon being described as serious.

Saanich Police and the Saanich Fire Department have responded to the scene of a collision late Thursday afternoon being described as serious.

The collision occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on August 19 at the intersection of Grange Road and Tulip Avenue in Saanich.

According to police, a cyclist was struck at the intersection by a passing vehicle.

Saanich Police suggest that the 40-year-old cyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was travelling northbound on Grange Road before being struck by the vehicle.

The injuries sustained by the man on the bike are being described as serious in nature and he has been transported to hospital by BC Ambulance.

Saanich PD says that a complete closure of the intersection is expected for the next several hours as police assess the scene.

Investigators with the Collision Investigation Unit have been called to conduct a thorough scene examination.
