Saanich Police were called to the 2700 block of Richmond Road on Oct. 26, 2023.

Saanich police officers were called to the 2700 block of Richmond Road on Thursday night after a landlord “displayed” a shotgun during an interaction with the tenant.

Sgt. Damian Kowalewich with Saanich Police says officers were originally called for a landlord and tenant dispute.

“Because of the level of risk involved, once we established that the individuals who called us were safe, we activated the Greater Victoria Emergency Response Team, our integrated K9 service as well as our Major Crime Unit to assist with the investigation,” Kowalewich said.

“The situation was remedied safely and the individual surrendered to police.”

The suspect is facing two charges, assault with a weapon and possession of a weapon. Kowalewich says this is in relation to the shotgun he showed during the incident.

The suspect is currently in custody and will appear in provincial court on Friday.
