Jessie Goodale, the subject of a Canada-wide warrant, was arrested by Saanich Police Feb. 17.

Saanich Police arrested a man Wednesday night who was the subject of a Canada-wide warrant.

During a traffic stop in the area of Burnside Road and Tillicum Road, Saanich Police officers located 30-year-old Jesse Goodale, originally from Nanaimo, who was a passenger in the vehicle.

Police say Goodale was taken into custody without incident.

Nanaimo RCMP first issued an alert regarding the warrant for Goodale on Feb. 11, saying he was released from a federal penitentiary last month after serving the majority of his sentence for aggravated assault.

Upon his release, Goodale was court-ordered to reside at the Salvation Army in Victoria. RCMP said on Feb. 10, he did not return and a warrant was issued for his arrest.

Nanaimo RCMP warned Goodale should be considered violent.

Victoria Police also issued an alert on Feb.16.

Police say Goodale has a lengthy history of criminal convictions for property crime, firearms possession, as well as drug and violent offences.
