Saanich PD investigating assault after employee asks suspected shoplifters to leave store

The Saanich Police Department is investigating an assault that occurred after an employee asked two individuals, suspected to be shoplifting, to leave the store.

According to a report, the incident took place on Wednesday, June 16, outside of a business in the 1500-block of Cedar Hill Cross Road.

Police say that they responded to the location after an employee was assaulted outside of the store.

Police were told that the staff member had asked two individuals to leave after they were suspected of shoplifting at the business.

One of these individuals proceeded to attack the employee outside the store.

After police responded to the scene, officers managed to locate and arrest the suspect.

The suspect was a 23-year-old woman and she is facing one count of assault.

The store employee was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The file remains under investigation.
