Saanich man dead after motorcycle crash near Port Renfrew

Police say a Saanich man is dead after a motorcycle crash on West Coast Road near Parkinson Creek trail head.

A 58-year-old Saanich man was found dead Sunday following a motorcycle collision in the Port Renfrew area.

Sooke RCMP said at around 9 p.m. on Oct. 6, officers were called to a crash on West Coast Road (Highway 14) near Parkinson Creek trailhead.

Police and BC Ambulance paramedics went to the area and found the man who had been driving the motorcycle. Police said the man was discovered dead the scene.

According to police, initial investigation suggests that sometime between 5:30 p.m. and 9 p.m., the 58-year-old Saanich man, was travelling eastbound on West Coast Road, lost control and went over an embankment.

Sooke RCMP are investigating along with an Island District Traffic Analyst. Anyone with information on the collision is asked to call Sooke RCMP at 250-642-5241 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).

The man’s name has not been released.
