WATCH: The Victoria Royals are a perfect 2-0 in the pre-season after defeating the Kamloops Blazers on the road by a score of 4-2 on Saturday night.
Rookie defenceman Noah Lamb opened the scoring in the first period with a deflected shot from the point beating the Blazers netminder, and recent import Phillip Schultz from Denmark added an insurance marker to give the Royals a 2-0 lead after one.
The Blazers would strike back in the second to knot the game at 2-2, but Tyus Gent would score on the very next shift to give the Royals a 3-2 lead.
Gent, a 17-year-old from Delta, is looking to crack the Royals line-up after playing just 5 games with the club last year.
The Royals would make a goalie change in the third period and give 15-year-old Keegan Maddocks a shot between the pipes, and the 2018 8th round pick showed he’s not afraid of the challenge, he made a handful of nice stops to keep Victoria in front. The Royals would add an empty net goal late to take the 4-2 win over the Blazers.
The Royals continue their pre-season this Friday against the Vancouver Giants in Langley.
