WATCH: The Victoria Royals have announced that local businessman John Wilson has been named as the chair for the team’s bid for the 2020 Memorial Cup.
Along with Wilson, Royals senior vice president of sales and marketing, Darren Parke, has been named as the vice chair of the committee. The Royals, who were eliminated in the second round of the WHL playoffs this season, believe they can field a National Championship calibre team in time for the 2020 tournament and are hoping to land the crown jewel of North American junior hockey ahead of other Western Canadian hockey markets like Kelowna, Kamloops and Lethbridge.
