A school bus driver suffered non-life threatening injuries when a rowing scull flew through the bus windshield after colliding with a truck in Shawnigan Lake.
The boat came off a trailer towed by the truck that was occupied by three members of the Canadian Olympic men’s rowing team.
RCMP say there were 12 kids from George Bonner Elementary and École Cobble Hill on the School District 79 bus at the time.
Police say the students were shaken, but otherwise uninjured.
They were transferred to a safe location at the school.
The driver of the truck was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
No injuries are reported for the two passengers.
The accident happened in the 1900-block of Renfrew Road just before 8 a.m. Friday morning, near Shawnigan Lake School, closing the road between the school and Worthington Road.
The road is now open.
