Rider flees after high speed motorcycle crash on the Pat Bay Highway

Saanich Police are searching for a rider who fled the scene after crashing a motorcycle into a median on the Pat Bay Highway on Friday night.

Its believed the motorcycle, a 2007 Suzuki with no license plate, was travelling at high speed before the crash around 9:20 p.m.

It happened just north of the Saanich Police Department.

“Several Saanich Police officers heard a motorcycle moments before the call came in,” said Sgt. Alan Gurzinski

No other vehicles were involved.

The rider then ran across the southbound lanes of the highway and headed north, tossing his helmet along the way.

“Witnesses say he ran northbound towards the allotment gardens and the Carey Road area,” said Sgt. Gurzinski.

Officers are also trying to contact the registered owner of the motorcycle.
