A portion of Richmond Ave near the Royal Jubilee Hospital, was closed by VicPD due to an ongoing incident Sunday morning.
VicPD tweeted that the Emergency Response Team had been activated as they worked to arrest a man.
By 11:15 a.m., VicPD had taken one man into custody and the road was re-opened to traffic.
In an official statement, VicPD say that officers responded to a report just after 6 a.m. of a serious assault in the 1700-block of Richmond Ave.
The victim of the assault was able to flee the residence and the suspect refused to leave the apartment.
Police say that the standoff lasted several hours until just after 11:00 a.m, when the suspect was safely taken into custody.
VicPD say that the investigation is in the early stages and further information will be released when appropriate.
