The owners of Yellow Point Farms said Tuesday a $1,200 reward is pledged for information leading to the return of a young goat believed stolen last weekend.

Rebecca and Justin Dault says one of their baby goats was taken during an event where people can visit and snuggle with the cuddly animals at their Ladysmith farm.

They noticed a 12-day-old male kid was missing after the event on Saturday.

An update on the Yellow Points Farm Facebook page says the goat can be dropped off at any Vancouver Island Goat Association location or “at a number of our friend’s farms on the mainland”.

Justin Dault says it’s unlikely the cream-coloured, black-spotted baby ran away because it was inside a locked paddock and he searched “high and low” for the animal after realizing it was gone.

Dault says the mother of the missing goat is distressed and has been wandering around searching for the young male while neglecting another baby.

The farm owner adds he’s worried the little kid might not survive without its mother because it doesn’t know how to drink milk from a bottle yet.

RCMP visited the property Monday and Dault asked on Facebook for anyone with information to contact the farm or call Crime Stoppers.
