Rev. Andrew Gates gave a powerful and moving prayer during the Remembrance Day ceremony in downtown Victoria.
“One hundred years ago another pandemic claimed the lives of millions and from the ashes of war, pandemic and financial ruin came an ugly generation of despotic, ruthless, barbaric, power-hungry leaders who took the world to yet another devastation,” Gates said during his prayer, which was broadcasted live on CHEK.
“Don’t let us forget today. It’s better to fight for peace through the ballot box than with a gun. Better to remember the beauty of earth than the desolation of a bomb.”
The prayer caught the attention of many, with some viewers calling it the best they had heard during a Remembrance Day ceremony.
