Just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning residents on the 1000 block of Tolmie Avenue were evacuated after a gas line was hit and began to leak into the neighbourhood.
It’s believed an excavator hit a natural gas line. Homes in the immediate area were evacuated as the Victoria Fire Department and Fortis BC work to repair the leak.
Roads in the area also remain temporarily closed until the matter is resolved.
