BC Ferries says the Baynes Sound Connector ferry, which travels between Buckley Bay and Denman Island West, has been repaired after the ferry ran into mechanical issues on Thursday, causing sailing cancellations.

On Thursday, BC Ferries told CHEK News that it normally schedules the vessel’s cable change work overnight, but on Wednesday night it experienced complications, leading to the cancellations on Thursday.

Another BC Ferries vessel stepped in to offer temporary shuttle service on Thursday and Friday morning, but it wasn’t until Friday afternoon that repairs to the Baynes Sound Connector were complete.

“The maintenance repairs on our cable system for the Baynes Sound Connector have been completed,” said BC Ferries in an update at 3:45 p.m. Friday.

The vessel will return to its regular scheduled service starting with its sailing departing from Buckley Bay to Denman Island West at 5 p.m. Friday.

“We appreciate your patience, and apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced as a result of the maintenance repairs and revised schedule,” said the company.
