A possible bacteria contamination has triggered a recall over a line of frozen chicken strips in western Canada, including B.C.

Health Canada says Pinty’s Delicious Foods Inc.’s Oven Roasted Chicken Breast Strips may be contaminated with a Listeria strain.

The pre-cooked chicken strips are from two batches with best-before dates of Aug. 9 and Aug. 15.

Officials say there have been no reported illnesses associated with these products but warn Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick.

Health Canada says the risk is heightened for pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems.

Symptoms include an upset stomach, fever and muscle aches.

People are advised to check to see if the recalled products are in their home and to throw it out or return it to the store where it was purchased.

The recall also applies to Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba.
