Another worker at a grocery store in Nanaimo has become infected with the coronavirus.

Loblaws Inc. posted on its website on Feb. 9 that an employee at the Real Canadian Superstore in Nanaimo has positive for COVID-19.

The company did not disclose when the employee tested positive but said their last shift at the store was on Feb. 6.

“We work closely with public health and follow their guidance to ensure proper notification of close contacts and required cleaning and sanitization in our stores,” Loblaws said in a statement on their website.

Ontario-based Loblaws Inc. is the parent company of both Real Canadian Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart.

The update comes after Sobey’s revealed two employees working at Thrifty Foods at Longwood Station in Nanaimo recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, an employee working at a Lowe’s Rutherford Road location in Nanaimo also tested positive for COVID-19, according to the company’s website. That employee last worked at the store on Jan. 27.
