RCMP warns of spike in daytime break and enters in Courtenay, Comox and Black Creek

RCMP are alerting the public to a recent spike in daytime break and enters in the Courtenay/Comox area, including one in which the resident was at home at the time.

Comox Vally RCMP officers responded to the latest incident on Wednesday at 11:20 a.m. in the 2700-block of Paula Place.

A suspect is reported to have entered the home while one of the occupants was inside.

RCMP say a gold watch and a silver chain were stolen.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man in his 30’s, with slicked back black hair. He was wearing a black hoodie and jeans and carrying a blue tote bag.

RCMP say the is one of several break and enters reported over the past two weeks including in Courtenay, Comox and Black Creek.

“This is a good time to remind everyone in the Comox Valley to be vigilant,” said Cst. Monika Terragni.

“Lock your doors and report any and all suspicious activity to police right away.”
