A suspect accused of throwing rocks at a property near Taylor Beach in Metchosin is shown in a surveillance image released by West Shore RCMP.

West Shore RCMP is seeking the public’s help in identifying a man accused of causing roughly $2,000 in property damage to a Metchosin home that backs onto a popular beach.

The incident took place at approximately 5 p.m. at the rear of a property located near the 500-block of Swanwick Road in Metchosin, which backs onto Taylor Beach, said West Shore RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Nancy Saggar in a news release Monday.

Video surveillance allegedly shows the man throwing rocks at the property, eventually striking the surveillance camera itself and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage.

The West Shore RCMP is now seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect. He is described as a male with light-coloured skin and facial hair, between 25 and 35 years old.

He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black jacket and a toque, and black shoes. A photo of the suspect has been released by RCMP

Residents are being urged to come forward with any information they might have about the incident or man seen in surveillance footage.

Those who know more can contact West Shore RCMP at 250-474-2264 or Crime Stoppers online or at 1-800-222-8477.
