Mounties in Nanaimo say they have safely located a missing teen that was believed to be visiting from the mainland.

On Thursday morning, RCMP said they were searching for a 17-year-old who was expected to return to her home on the mainland on Jan. 2, but had yet to return.

By Thursday afternoon, police said she had been “located safe and sound.”
