The Ladysmith RCMP is seeking public assistance to locate 13-year-old Payton MacDonald who was reported missing on March 17, 2022.

On March 16, 2022, Ladysmith RCMP say officers received a request from the Ministry of Child and Family Development (MCFD) to check on the well-being of Payton who is residing on a sailboat with her father in Ladysmith.

MCFD had a Family Court Order which directed Payton’s father to immediately disclose her whereabouts.

According to Ladysmith RCMP, Payton’s father was not cooperative and was subsequently arrested and held in custody for disobeying the court order for not disclosing her whereabouts.

Police say that Payton was last seen on the morning of Tuesday, March 15, 2022, with her father entering his van at the foot of Harbour View Road in Ladysmith.

To date, police and family have not been able to make contact with Payton. She does not have a phone or have access to social media, states S/Sgt. Wes Olsen of the Ladysmith RCMP. We want to ensure that she is safe and well.

The 13-year-old is described as standing at about 5’6″ and weighing approximately 130 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes, note police.

She is in the photograph above.

Anyone with information about Payton’s whereabouts is being asked to contact their local police or the Ladysmith RCMP at 250-245-2215.
