The West Shore RCMP say that patrol officers are investigating a complaint from a woman regarding a “suspicious occurrence” which occurred on the Galloping Goose trail near Jacklin Road in Langford.

Police say that on January 31, the woman says she was walking on the trail at around 4:00 p.m. near the Victor Chen Memorial Park when the occurrence took place.

The woman told police that a man approached her on the trail, staring at her “for a number of minutes.”

Police noted that the man did not say anything to the woman.

The woman described the interaction as “odd.”

According to a police report, the woman continued down the trail following the occurrence and came across another woman, who said the same man had come out of the bush and onto the trail minutes earlier and startled her.

Police also said this wasn’t the first time that the complainant interacted with the man. On Jan. 27, a similar “suspicious occurrence” took place between the two, when the man stared at the woman for a number of minutes before walking away.

The man is described as 50-60 years of age, standing at around 5’10 with a slim build. He had shaggy grey and brown hair with a full beard.

At the time of the incident, police say he was wearing a dark blue windbreaker and blue jeans with a tan baseball hat, dark shoes and a black backpack.

There were no reports of assault or threats against the women. Thus far we only know of these two complaints involving the same man. There is nothing criminal that has taken place here, however police are looking to identify and speak to this individual as his behaviour comes across as suspicious and concerning. If this was you or you know who this could be, please call the West Shore RCMP said Cst. Nancy Saggar, West Shore RCMP Media Relations Officer.
