RCMP are investigating a single-vehicle fatal collision on Mayne Island on May 20, 2023.
Two people died in a fatal collision on Mayne Island where alcohol and speed are believed to be factors.
Outer Gulf Islands RCMP were called to Merryman Drive around 10 p.m. on Saturday.
Police say it is believed the driver of a 95 Pontiac Firebird failed to make a turn and crashed into a tree.
Two men in their late 40s and early 50s were pronounced dead at the scene.
No other people or vehicles were involved in the collision.
In the lead-up to the long weekend, ICBC was reminding drivers to drive safely, as the Victoria Day long weekend typically sees two people die and 480 injured in crashes across the province.
