RCMP investigate sexual assault in a Courtenay park

Comox Valley RCMP are looking for witnesses following a report of a sexual assault in Courtenay on the evening of Wednesday, April 11th

A 34-year old woman told police she was in Sandwick Park between 7:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. when she was grabbed from behind by a stranger and forced into a forested area where she was sexually assaulted.

RCMP say no weapon was used during the attack.

The male suspect is described as:

  • Late 30s or early 40s
  • Husky
  • Approximately 5’6
  • Short Hair
  • Scruffy red facial hair
  • Light skin with freckles on his arms
  • Wearing a black jacket and possibly dark jeans

The police are pursuing all avenues of investigation to identify the suspect, said Sgt. Tracy Veary of the Comox Valley RCMP Major Crime Unit.

We are looking for any witnesses who were in the area at the time of this assault.
