RCMP bust suspected drug lab

A suspected drug lab is shut and two men are facing charges after RCMP descended on a mobile home in Errington this week.

Oceanside RCMP were called to 1714 Alberni Highway around noon on Tuesday following reports of suspicious activity.

Officers say they discovered evidence in plain view to suggest illicit drugs were being made in the mobile home.

They secured the residence and prepared a search warrant.

On Wednesday, a specialized unit was called in from RCMP headquarters Surrey to search the home.

The Clandestine Lab Enforcement and Response Team carried out their work early Wednesday afternoon.

“These types of situations are very hazardous for First Responders. We are very fortunate to have access to the CLEAR Team in order to help us dismantle these homemade labs,” said Staff Sgt. Marc Pelletier.

“I have to also credit the BC Ambulance Service and the Coombs Hilliers Volunteer Fire Department for assisting us.”

RCMP say two men, aged 65 and 22, are connected to the residence.

Charges under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act are being considered
