The Capital Regional District (CRD) says heavy rain has caused storm and wastewater overflows along some Greater Victoria shorelines.

Residents are advised to avoid entering the waters in the affected areas, which are between Fraser Street and Victoria View Road, including Macaulay Point in Esquimalt.

The other area affected is between Trafalgar Park and Radcliffe Lane, which includes McNeill Bay in Oak Bay.

The CRD says the wastewater along the affected shorelines may pose a health risk.

Public health advisory signs have been posted at beaches within the affected areas and will remain there until sample results show bacteria levels below the recreational limit.
