A trip to get some pizza turned into a $75,000 windfall for a Qualicum Beach man.

Harold MacDougall recently won $75,000 from a Casino Royale II Scratch and Win ticket, according to the British Columbia Lottery Corporation.

The Qualicum Beach man had gone out to get some pizza but decided to purchase a scratch and win ticket instead from the Quality Foods on Memorial Avenue.

When MacDougall arrived home, he decided to scratch the ticket and discovered, he indeed, was the winner of $75,000.

“The first thing that crossed my mind was that it wasn’t real,” MacDougall said in a press release. “It’s a nice feeling to win.”

MacDougall shared the news of his big win with his partner, then his good friend, who naturally didn’t believe him at first.

“I called my friend Mike, who didn’t believe me at first. He had to call back and check with my partner to make sure it was true,” MacDougall said.

The Qualicum Beach man plans to use the money to go travelling, once it is safe to do so, and is eying trips to Cape Breton and Scotland, where he has family.
