The driver in the rollover crash was taken to hospital with minor injuries according to Saanich Police.

A driver has been brought to hospital after a single-vehicle rollover crash in the 4100-block of Quadra Street that knocked out a power pole.

Sgt. Damian Kowalewich with Saanich Police says the driver of the single vehicle did not appear to be impaired, and the cause of the crash is under investigation.

“We’re going to be here for several hours because there’s a hydro pole that’s going to have to be removed and replaced,” Kowalewich said.

While a BC Transit bus was not involved in the collision, Kowalewich says there was a bus in the area when the power lines fell and it had to be “safely removed from the area.”

“A BC Transit bus was temporarily impacted by nearby downed power lines on Quadra Street earlier this morning,” BC Transit said in a statement to CHEK News. “The Route 6 bus did not make contact with the power lines, and was able to carry on after a short delay.”

Route 6 will be on a detour while the situation is resolved.

Kowalewich says the street will be shut for several hours while the hydro pole is replaced.

According to BC Hydro’s outage map, the outage as a result of the downed power lines is affecting 2,206 customers. A crew is on site and power should be restored by 5 p.m.
